About
Hi, I’m Vicky, and I have a passion for supporting families while protecting our natural environment.
Little Green Steps is a group dedicated to making sustainable parenting easy and accessible—one small step at a time.
We host a monthly Reusable Nappy Library at Victory Community Centre in Nelson, usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month (but be sure to check our social media for updates). This service helps parents navigate the world of reusable nappies by providing education on how to fit, wash, and care for them. The library offers a broad sample of popular nappy brands to try on, as well as free, sanitized used nappies to keep. Additionally, we offer reusable nappy starter kits at cost to help parents begin their sustainable journey. For those short on time, we also assist in connecting parents with local washing networks.
To extend the life of reusable nappies, Little Green Steps has teamed up with Textile ResQ to facilitate nappy elastic repairs. Parents can bring in their nappies in exchange for a koha toward the cost of elastics, helping keep these products in use for longer and supporting the circular economy.
Beyond nappies, Little Green Steps offers workshops covering a variety of topics related to sustainable parenting. These include lessons on making low-waste snacks, getting kids into bike seats or trailers, practicing elimination communication, and implementing family waste reduction strategies such as recycling and composting.
Whether you’re a new parent looking to reduce waste or someone simply wanting to make greener choices in everyday life, Little Green Steps is here to guide you on your journey to sustainability.
