Labyrinth Art Therapies
About
My name is Marije. I am a qualified Anthroposophical Art Therapist and Cacao Ceremony facilitator.
I am originally from the Netherlands, but moved with my husband and daughter to this beautiful part of New Zealand in 2010. I have studied and practiced several spiritual modalities, such as Universal Energy and Colour Healing. I love working with crystals, aura sprays and sound.
Anthroposophical Art Therapy is beneficial in pivotal and life changing moments, such as becoming a parent. It can help with overcoming anxiety around childbirth, motherhood and our expectations. Art Therapy is also a useful and soothing tool after traumatic childbirth or loss. Colour has a direct connection to the human soul, and can assist us in healing processes.
Art Therapy makes use of colour by using paints, pastels and crayons. When we let things flow on the paper, the same happens within us, things start to flow. When working with forms, shapes and lines, we bring order, we create boundaries, and again, the same happens within us. These are some of the principles that I use in this form of therapy.
I offer individual and group Cacao Ceremonies for pregnant women and young mothers, to celebrate the blessing of motherhood.
Cacao is a gentle, sacred, heart opening plant medicine that helps us connect with Source and Mother Earth. Mama Cacao loves to work with our intentions and is happy to share her wisdom.
It is advised to give pregnant women a lower dose of cacao. During pregnancy a woman is more open to the spiritual world and won’t need a full ceremonial dose. Also, Cacao increases the blood flow and may be too stimulating.
In Ceremony, I use medicine song, guided meditation and gentle movement to connect with plant medicine on a deep level.
I work in the Motueka area, but if public transport allows, I can travel to Nelson and Richmond.
