You and your baby are invited to join us at BABYFOCUS for a course which follows the work of Dr Emmi Pikler paediatrician and Magda Gerber child therapist, who advocated that the relationship between the child and their parent is all - “it is a matter of life to the child.”

At Babyfocus classes we will:

• explore the trusting, respectful relationship between you and your child

• facilitate your child’s natural movement and play

• spend time in discussion

• have a time for quiet observation

Babyfocus classes for infants and toddlers will provide you with a unique opportunity to stretch and celebrate you as a parent as well as delight in your child’s unique capabilities.

Facilitators

Janelle Johnson Gardiner has wide experience working with families and promoting the Dr Emmi Pikler approach. Janelle is facilitating Babyfocus classes each term for families with young non crawling infants (2-6 mths)

Dates, times and venue will be announced before the course.

Susan Watson is an experienced Montessori teacher who has been involved with Babyfocus classes since 2008. Susan is facilitating the outdoor Parent-Infant Toddlerfocus groups in the beautiful outdoor space of the Miro room at Kauri Montessori on Tukuka St, Nelson. The age range for enrolment in these classes is 9mth – 2 yrs.

The classes are run 2 pm - 3.30 pm on Friday afternoons.

Ruth Brodbeck has over 40 years’ experience working as a midwife/lactation consultant developing a particular interest in supporting families in all aspects of becoming new parents, promoting the Pikler approach.

All facilitators have completed Pennie Brownlee’s “Dance with me in the heart” course.
