Aoraki Physio & Pilates
About
Iām Natalie, a mother of two lovely children.
My passions include reading, walking, crafting, and tackling DIY projects around the house. Originally from South Africa, my family and I relocated to New Zealand in 2016, and we take pride in being citizens of this beautiful country.
I have been a physiotherapist since 2016, with additional training specifically in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, which encompasses internal assessments, speculum use, treatment, and pessary fittings. Additionally, I hold postgraduate qualifications in sports and orthopaedics, which integrate seamlessly when approaching pregnancy in a holistic manner.
My enthusiasm for being a pelvic floor physiotherapist stems from helping women navigate challenging times, which can include pain or injury, as well as empowering them with the knowledge and education to manage their wellbeing effectively through various life stages. I firmly believe in the power of preventing avoidable injuries by understanding their causes and implementing strategies to avoid them where possible. As a registered ACC provider, I can lodge claims for maternal birth injuries if necessary.
I prioritize collaborative problem-solving with my clients by understanding their concerns and goals, complemented by thorough assessments to identify the root of the issues and their potential causes. Each session includes education, self-management advice, and exercises. I also take pleasure in providing hands-on therapy, such as massage, joint mobilisations, and dry needling. I value teamwork and welcome opportunities to communicate and share insights with my clients and their other care providers to ensure the best outcomes.
Our Pilates classes are designed to be safe for both pre- and post-natal mothers, helping to enhance strength, stability, flexibility, and mobility. Led by Wade Petersen, a personal trainer with years of experience in supporting moms during and after pregnancy, these classes cater to a wide range of needs. While they are welcoming to expecting mothers, modifications and support are readily available for all participants, not just those who are pregnant.
