We’re working towards a world where no woman faces Perinatal depression or birth trauma alone. Instead she feels connected to her village and able to embrace her intuition.

We support women in their transition to motherhood by providing opportunities for connection through workshops in Nelson and Tasman, and an online holistic directory, raising up local services, businesses and shared resources.

About Me

Hi, my name is Bekki. Mama to 2, wife and enthusiastic tea drinker.

I’m originally from Lincolnshire in the UK, but now I live in the beautiful Moutere with my family.

For the past 13 years I’ve worked in Operating Theatres as an Anaesthetic Technician, mainly in busy cities in the UK and NZ, but lifes looking a little different these days.

I have now had 2 beautiful, but very different home births, trained as Birth and Postpartum Doula and have first hand experience of how support can take many forms.
I love growing food for my family, feeding them home cooked treats, grounding myself in nature and all things birth. nothing make me happier than sitting down with a new Mama and hearing a birth story where she felt like an actual Goddess.

This all began on my own pregnancy journey almost 2years ago. I craved a village and a way to support my body and journey in a way that felt true to the sacred process that pregnancy is. I felt extremely vulnerable as a first time Mum, all I knew was that I was going to have to educate myself and do some work to break down some false ideas I had been told around my bodies ability to birth, in order to have the journey I wanted.

Working in the Operating Theatres I didn’t feel supported to birth naturally, although I knew I could. I was so sad to hear stories of women having bad or even traumatic experiences where they didn’t feel heard or in control. I knew I wanted to help change that narrative.
Our births. Our babies. Our Choices

Our village doesn’t look how it used to, that doesn’t mean we don’t all deserve one. The Directory was designed to be a gateway to all the wonderful work that is happening within the Nelson Tasman region; while supporting women to have their own informed and empowered journey to motherhood through education and free Mothers circles.

The Collective

The Perinatal collective is an ever growing group of Nelson Tasman businesses and services that contribute to and shape the Directory.
This is what sets us apart, the collective focus is on creating a village together so that everyone you see on these pages is trusted and consciously collaborating with one another to support local mamas just like you, while also holding space for each other.

The Perinatal Directory is possible because of the support and generosity these women have shown with their words, knowledge and inspirational work in this field.

“I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things”
- Mother Theresa

Support the Directory and help us grow

This Directory was set up by a new Mama who couldn’t find her village, so decided to create her own.
Each ‘coffee’ supports me towards growing and maintaining this site so future generations of new and seasoned Mamas can find the support they need and deserve.

If you’ve enjoyed the content or found this site useful please consider ‘buying me a coffee’ to pass on your gratitude.
